How to measure total software drumming latency (RTL) with a mic 👉
I wouldn't use any latency measurement app because I doubt reliability (bad experience with several such tools). So I measure it this way (in order to exclude any inconsistency/unreliability!):
Rubber drum pad + mic + small speaker (positioned to each other within a very small radius and same distance), triggering a short clicking sample (sharp transient), the mic is DAW-recoreded by a second computer
--> then you can measure the distance between stick hit noise and sample in the DAW. Do research on several hits to check the jitter. 🙂
