"Steven Slate Drums 5(.5)" Hihat Fix for e-drummers 😃👉

Video available showing the unwanted Steven Slate Drums 5(.5) hihat engine artifacts and the BecauseDrumGeek engine fixing them.

Playing e-drums with "Steven Slate Drums 5(.5) " is so much fun: easy, affordable and good-sounding!

Unfortunately the Steven Slate Drums hihat engine features one of two principles of function which will suffer from annoying transition artifacts (the transitions of the "OPEN-CLOSED stages") when playing the sampler with variable-CC-hihat-capable e-drum controllers (like from "Roland").

So I've developed a FIX: With it you can play the "Variable Hihat" without SSD5(.5) processing any CC data! This will stop the unwanted behavior and sound artifacts.

With the FIX you can of course also customize the variable hihat pedal translation and set open-closed-stages to be triggered by pedal positions of your choice and/or skip stages you don't want. You can also combine this fix with the SSD5 Pedal Splash FIX :
( SSD5 Hihat Splash FIX (for Roland -and similar- modules) 🙂👉 )

BTW: the original SSD5(.5) hihat provides the same principle of function as the Toontrack drum samplers Superior Drummer 2 and also EZ Drummer 2, so the transition artifacts of these samplers can also be fixed.

Additional Steven Slate Drums 5(.5) Hihat Fix Features:

-- open sound issue when closing quite softly:
Unfortunately the hihat engine is quite buggy when muting the open sound by playing a relatively soft pedal note :
-
if you close the hihat quite softly there is an unwanted fade out time range of the open sound:
It does not stop instantaneously. - - - this is really NOGO!!
-
My engine fixes this!

-- Roland modules with default trigger settings do not send a Pedal note when closing the hihat very softly. Regarding this, you can choose the options of the FIX: fully depressed pedal postion will mute any open sound (this setting is featured in the video) or open sound will be unaffected by closing the hihat extremely softly without Pedal note event.

In the video I'm toggling between the original SSD5.5 Engine and my fixed Hihat Engine by hitting the rim of the Floor Tom pad.
So you can watch what happens and how the hihat behaves with each of the engines! 🙂

- PS: Also, my engine significantly improves the "VHx" (Roland hihat system on hihat stand) issues whereupon stages are unwantedly triggered by the jolt downwards. This is because sheer CC data won't trigger open-closed-stages within my "clean" hihat engine.

supported DAWs: "Reaper" , "Cubase Artist/Pro" , "Logic Pro" , "Bidule" , "Ableton Live Suite" 🙂

Dear Mr. Trommler:

I am trying to use the Roland hi-hat with SSD5 and it does not splash as you have pointed out. Your fix is quite effective, but I do not understand specifically how to program the fix. Are there mapping changes I must make within the SSD5?

Thank you sir, for providing advice.

You mean the Hihat Splash FIX? -> SSD5 Hihat Splash FIX (for Roland -and similar- modules) 🙂👉
