GETGOOD DRUMS ("GGD") e-drum HIHAT fixes 👉

"GGD" libs sound so strong and at least for heavier styles well known drum sampler manufacturers absolutely meet their match!

...BUT unfortunately there are issues regarding e-drumming with these libraries (especially on Hihat)☹️. So I've build some workarounds that will fix them.

What is a flawlessly working "Variable CC Hihat" regarding GGD libs?

- 1. All available BOW and EDGE articulations/stages are provided and can be consistently triggered with the two zones of a dual hihat pad!
- 2. Single articulations/stages can be tweaked in level!
- 3. No annoying open sound Fade-Out-Muting at all Pedal "Chick" velocities!
- 4. Advanced Feature: the option to build true custom hihat pedal translation (which means that you can even skip stages of your choice)
- 5. Advanced feature: 'consistent 2-Closed-Stages Triggering' makes the Second Stage (the "CLOSED" stage) also consistently and reproducibly reachable within the Variable CC Hihat

my GGD "Variable CC Hihat" FIXES can provide all these points. :)

BTW, are you aware that in DEFAULT (and not fixed) state of even Invasion and the One Kit Wonder kits (which are easier to fix than the other packs) at least the (not only for Metal) super important CLOSED EDGE articulation will still be missing in your Variable CC Hihat (even when mapping the hihat in the best possible way)?...

"Variable Hihat" issues --> FIXes :

👉
"PIV Matt Halpern Signature"
Pack:
Issues:
- The two closed articulations "TIGHT" and "CLOSED" are available as BOW (Tip) and EDGE but cannot be mapped consistently for the variable e-drum hihat engine featuring a 2 zones hihat pad ("bow" + "edge"). My workaround fixes this.

- open sound issue when closing:
there is an unwanted fade out of the open sound which lasts more than 200 milliseconds! It does not mute instantly.

👉
"INVASION"
Pack:
Issues:
- The two closed articulations "TIGHT" and "CLOSED" are available as BOW (Tip) and EDGE but cannot be mapped consistently for the variable e-drum hihat engine featuring a 2 zones hihat pad ("bow" + "edge"). My workaround fixes this.

- velocity-related sound jump on the "Open3" articulation is fixed/improved.

--------

👉
"Matt Halpern Signature / PIII"
Pack:
Issues:
- every BOW articulation has its EDGE equivalent on this pack but the edge articulations cannot be mapped for the variable (e-drum) hihat engine featuring a 2 zones hihat pad ("bow" + "edge").

- open sound issue when closing quite softly:
if you close the open hihat quite softly it won't mute instantly -> same issue like on "P4" then, getting that unwanted fade out.

- Using the CC articulation won't allow altering the level of single members (stages). As some open-closed-stages of the Variable Hihat need adjustments I've just fixed this: the Workaround CC Hihat will now contain all articulations (all BOWs + all EDGEs) and each of them is adjustable in level.

- velocity-related sound jumps on the "Wide", "Open3", "Open2" BOW articulations are fixed/improved.

--------

👉
"Modern & Massive"
Pack:
Issues:
- there are no dedicated BOW and EDGE articulations by default: both are merged within the only available articulations. My workaround fixes this: the M&M hihat is one of my faves now using the separation FIX! --> MODERN & MASSIVE Hihat Engine FIX : Hihat BOW <-> EDGE separation!!! 👉 LINK 😊

- open sound issue when closing quite softly:
if you close the open hihat quite softly it won't mute instantly -> same issue like on "P4" then, getting that unwanted fade out.

- Using the CC articulation won't allow altering the level of single members (stages). As some open-closed-stages of the Variable Hihat need adjustments I've just fixed this: the Workaround CC Hihat will now provide the option for setting individual levels of all open-closed-stages/articulations.

👉
"One Kit Wonder - Modern Fusion"
Pack:
Issue:
- The two closed articulations "TIGHT" and "CLOSED" are available as BOW (Tip) and EDGE but cannot be mapped consistently for the variable e-drum hihat engine featuring a 2 zones hihat pad ("bow" + "edge"). My workaround fixes this.

--------

👉
"One Kit Wonder - Aggressive Rock"
Pack:
Issue:
- The two closed articulations "TIGHT" and "CLOSED" are available as BOW (Tip) and EDGE but cannot be mapped consistently for the variable e-drum hihat engine featuring a 2 zones hihat pad ("bow" + "edge"). My workaround fixes this.

--------

👉
"One Kit Wonder - Metal"
Pack:
Issue:
- The two closed articulations "TIGHT" and "CLOSED" are available as BOW (Tip) and EDGE but cannot be mapped consistently for the variable e-drum hihat engine featuring a 2 zones hihat pad ("bow" + "edge"). My workaround fixes this.

--------

👉
"One Kit Wonder - Classic Rock"
Pack:
Issues:
- The two closed articulations "TIGHT" and "CLOSED" are available as BOW (Tip) and EDGE but cannot be mapped consistently for the variable e-drum hihat engine featuring a 2 zones hihat pad ("bow" + "edge"). My workaround fixes this.

- Regarding dynamics (loud hits vs. soft hits) there is generally a kind of audio "transmuting" on the GGD engine and depending on kit piece and model this can lead to unwanted artifacts --> a soft hit will "transmute" ( = fade out) the audio tail from a previous loud hit and this is quite no-go especially on the OKW-ClassicRock closed hihat because the closed (/"tight") sound is not really tight at all and has a quite long duration -> so a dynamically played fast hihat pulse (or pattern) will suffer from annoying artifacts ( = unrealistically cut sounds) [example: a (fast) loop "R-l-r-l-R-l-r-l-R-l-r-l..." or "R-l-r-L-R-l-r-L-R-l-r-L..." (the capital letters are loud full strokes and the lowercase letters soft "ghost notes")]
So I've built a fix engine: no more suffering from cut (hihat) sounds!

👉
"One Kit Wonder - Architects"
Pack:

- The two closed articulations "TIGHT" and "CLOSED" are available as BOW (Tip) and EDGE but cannot be mapped consistently for the variable e-drum hihat engine featuring a 2 zones hihat pad ("bow" + "edge"). My workaround fixes this.

(the capital letters are loud full strokes and the lowercase letters soft "ghost notes")]
So I've built a fix engine: no more suffering from cut (hihat) sounds!

"One Kit Wonder - Dry and Funky"
Pack:

👉
"Benny Greb Signature Pack"
:
Issues:
- All Hihat articulations (from "Tight" to "Open 4") are available as BOW (Tip) and EDGE but cannot be mapped consistently for the variable e-drum hihat engine featuring a 2 zones hihat pad ("bow" + "edge"). My workaround fixes this.

- Variable CC Hihat : weird snare rimshots and (clipping) kick articulations may occur when hitting the hihat pad. --> fixed!

∙ Hihat : additional Variable BELL CC Hihat : providing the additional Variable Bell Shoulder + Variable Bell Tip articulations on a different 2-zone (cymbal) pad ; or on 2 separate (cymbal) pads ( -> one for Bell Shoulder and one for Bell Tip) 😊 ;

- additional FIX feature: Hihat Bell integration for Roland VH-14D -> Variable CC Hihat : making the Bell articulations available (if you want, with an additional dynamically triggered 'Bell Tip'<->'Bell Shoulder' splitting);

Dynamic Closed Hihat Transmuting FIX -> improved hihat engine on closed articulations ("Closed" & "Tight" : Edge + Tip + Bell Shoulder + Bell Tip):
Regarding dynamics (loud hits vs. soft hits) on certain articulations (like the closed hihat articulations) there is generally a kind of audio "transmuting" from the GGD engine and this can lead to unwanted artifacts --> a soft hit will "transmute" ( = fade out) the audio tail from a previous loud hit and this is quite no-go especially with the 'Benny Greb Signature Pack' closed hihat --> so a dynamically played fast hihat pulse (or pattern) will suffer from annoying artifacts ( = unrealistically cut sounds) - [example: a (fast) loop "R-l-r-l-R-l-r-l-R-l-r-l..." or "R-l-r-L-R-l-r-L-R-l-r-L..." (the capital letters are loud full strokes and the lowercase letters soft "ghost notes")]
So I've built a fix engine: no more suffering from cut Hihat sounds!

[General:]

Hihat pedal note ("Chick") volume level issue on some packs:
the pedal note ("Chick") sound level is too low (even after raising the available +6dB)
--> my project fixes it : pedal note ("Chick") sound level is significantly increased (not only the 6 dB that are available by default because that won't be enough in some cases!)

additional Hihat Feature:
∙ Dynamic Closed Hihat Transmuting FIX -> improved hihat engine on closed articulations 👉 LINK ]
My engines fix all this. Also, I can dial in your pedal translation --> so all your hihat pedal translation issues will be resolved ❗️😊.

The fixes are based on realtime editing within one of these DAWs: "Reaper" , "Cubase Artist/Pro" , "Logic Pro" , "Bidule" , "Ableton Live Suite".
