GGD "Modern & Massive 2" e-drum FIX 😃👉


For properly working and authentic e-drum translation + advanced additions:

(The main issue with M&M2 are cut sounds due to the sampler's default voice handling* that can cause an annoying fade-out behavior. This is a big spoiler (especially when playing (big) dynamic differences) and it detracts from the enjoyment of e-drumming with a drum library that otherwise sounds superb in many respects :
A low velocity hit of an articulation must not cut off/fade-out/choke a high(er) velocity hit (or its tail) of the same articulation ** (the same applies to articulations within the same kit piece (except for hihat open/closed stages, of course))!
Especially Toms and Ride Cymbal are really annoying with that default voice handling. [Example: Play a dynamic A-B pulse on the Floor Tom ( -> A is loud and B is soft) : B will now choke A (the tail of A) in a very annoying way]. No-go to me - so I created a fix: no more suffering from cut sounds! and you can enjoy e-drumming with those nice M&M2 sounds 🙂)

* Voice handling on a drum sampler refers to how the sampler manages the playback of multiple drum sounds (voices) simultaneously, especially when they are triggered in quick succession.

** I'm not saying that a soft hit has no effect on a loud hit that preceded it (in quick succession), but before applying this fade-out, it's better not to apply anything at all, because if you don't apply anything, it won't bother an electronic drummer. The voice handling (with its fade-out behavior) of M&M2 is definitely far from reality. And you won't find this kind of behavior in almost any other drum sampler (such as SD3 or EZ3, for example).


Features:


∙ preventing your drumming to suffer from the drum sampler's default voice handling (Read the aforementioned description!) -> super relevant for FloorToms, Toms and the Ride Cymbal; even the Snare is nicer without those fade-outs.


∙ CUSTOM hihat curve :

∙ improved Cymbal Choking : the default cymbal chokes sound unnatural because a too long fade-out is applied. My engine fixes this. ;

∙ Double Bassdrum Sound : play DoubleBass (on a single kick pad) with alternating Kick sounds A<->B (the second kick differs soundwise from the first to create an authentic DoubleBass sound/feeling -- ...and switch (during a song) the kick drum engine depending on the musical part / situation / requirement (via dedicated toggle pad hit) --> 'default' Single-Sound "A" vs. 'advanced Engine'-Double-Sound "A<->B"
∙ Flexible "B" sound : With this engine, the "B" sound can differ as much as you like from the "A" sound. DoubleBass vs. SingleBass - Bassdrum Engine toggle ❗️ 😊👉

DETAILED CUSTOM VELOCITY CURVES : Taming the M&M2 Ride Cymbal(s) -> They might need to be tamed in order to not produce crashy sounds from higher velocity sample layers - and therefore, you'll need a specific custom curve with a lowered ceiling ❗️ (This is not possible with the M&M2 standard vel curve tool) :
