The GGD - Benny Greb Signature Library : very detailed sampling/articulations - ... and so much character can be found in this pack 😊.
With its extensive range of articulations, it is the first library that allows a truly all-encompassing e-drum "Dream Kit". By this I mean especially the very good and authentic (or not detuned / differently tuned) sounding snare-buzzless versions of Toms and Kicks and Snares (for the Snare Throw-Off function), as well as the important extra Shallow Rimshots on snare drums, which makes the library superior (even SD3 totally weakens there).
The library provides 'Bell Tip' articulations in addition to 'Bell Shoulder' on Hihats (this is again unique) and it provides the aforementioned Bell articulations on all Crashes and Ride - so I can create 3-zone crash pads for all Crashes 😊.
I set up an additional 3-zone X-Hat (on the opposite side of the main hihat) which triggers the other available Benny hihat model - with three (by Toggle Pad) switchable closed / closed loose stages.
∙ The Snare drum gets an engine that provides Stageless Snare Positional Sensing (continuous & smooth sound change from the center to the edge) and an additional Stageless PS Lock Function ( = fixing the snare sound from the last played position by "Lock/Unlock" Toggle Pad hit. ➜ In this way, the original full center articulation and the opposite (the maximum 'close-to-edge articulation') can also be fixed (locked). And by hitting the Toggle Pad again, there will be 'Stageless Positional Sensing' again 😊 ➜ in this way there are so many snare options with the currently loaded Benny snare model(/tuned snare version) for musical situations.
∙ The Snare also gets a Snare Rimshot Positional Sensing engine ➜ "Open-Rimshot" vs. "Shallow-Rimshot" ( = center rimshot vs. near-edge rimshot) - of course again in both modes, SnareWires ON and OFF.
∙ Authentically translated Sidestick playing method (by hand placement on the snare head) is possible with the digital Roland snare pad 😊
∙ Snare Throw-Off function (switchable by Toggle Pad ❗️) : By setting snare wires off, all drums ( = Bassdrums , Toms and Side Snare) are switched to the "snare buzz-less" version! This is a total WOW effect! Thanks, GGD ❗️ (not a single other drum sampler offers this by default, and many drum sampler kits/packs/kit pieces don't even have snarebuzz-less tom and kick samples).
∙ The Kick gets switchable Double Bass Drum sound for single kick pads ('advanced Engine'-Double-Sound "A↔B" vs. 'default' Single-Sound "A")
➜ for authentic Metal double bass playing ; but also very ingenious, by the way, for creating A-B sound-alternations outside of "metal-style" double bass lines
∙ all Crash Cymbals and the heavy crash sound from the "Ride Edge" get authentic "Mute Tail" choking (choking with the original "Mute Tail" sounds). All are chokable by any cymbal pad ❗️ 😊
∙ I set up all Crashes (triggered by my 2-zone Cymbal pads "Roland CY-14ct") as 3(!)-zone pads which trigger the Benny Crash Cymbal articulations "Edge" , "Bow" and the "Bell Shoulder" on the third additional Bell zone! This gives me so nice and versatile sounds on all my e-cymbals 🙂 [ ➜ makes sense, btw, because Benny Greb considers and plays everything as a "cymbal" per se and does not strictly distinguish Crash vs. Ride].
∙ The Ride Cymbal gets the additional "Bell Tip" zone just below the bell of the Roland 'CY-18DR' Ride Cymbal pad. The bell itself triggers the "Ride Bell Shoulder" articulation. Thus, all 4 Ride articulations are playable on the ride pad, namely "Ride Bow" , "Ride Bell Shoulder" , "Ride Bell Tip" and the crashy "Ride Edge".
∙ I also set up some additional kit pieces:
a main Benny finger print is his bassy, low-tuned FloorTom. I play 3 times that Floortom with different pitches and logical panning: one additionally tuned higher and one even lower: this is very cool.
The Rack Tom becomes two (one additional, further to the right, with lower tuning)
...and finally, components like the non-damped 16 inch 'bass drum' and the high-tuned big toms from Benny's additional Jazz kit (again snarebuzz-less at Snare-Wires Off !).
∙ I have visual control over all Toggle Engine states showing me which engine / activation of an engine is currently active and working.
