"Benny Greb Signature Pack" dream kit FIX 😃👉
For properly working and authentic e-drum translation + advanced additions:
Features:
∙ Hihat : Variable CC Hihat : making all EDGE and BOW articulations available ;
∙ Hihat : Variable CC Hihat : fixing the buggy default engine ( issue : weird snare rimshots and (clipping) kick articulations may occur when hitting the hihat pad + inconsistent mapping of the more open 'Tip' articulations) ;
∙ Hihat : increased Pedal "Chick" volume (more than the available +6dB ➜ especially relevant for the 16" Hihat model (and/or when other hihat articulations have been increased in volume)) ;
Also, the Pedal Chick articulation gets a separated dynamic control! (as this is not possible with most e-drum modules/(trigger devices))
∙ Hihat : additional Variable BELL CC Hihat : providing the additional Variable Bell Shoulder + Variable Bell Tip articulations on a different 2-zone (cymbal) pad ; or on 2 separate (cymbal) pads ( ➜ one for Bell Shoulder and one for Bell Tip) 😊 ;
∙ Hihat : for Roland VH-14D ➜ Variable CC Hihat : making the BELL articulations available (if you want, with an additional dynamically triggered 'Bell Tip'↔'Bell Shoulder' splitting) ;
+ CUSTOM hihat curve ( 👉 LINK )
additional Hihat Feature :
∙ Dynamic Closed Hihat Transmuting FIX -> improved hihat engine on closed articulations ("Closed" & "Tight" : Edge + Tip + Bell Shoulder + Bell Tip):
Regarding dynamics (loud hits vs. soft hits) on certain articulations (like the closed hihat articulations) there is generally a kind of audio "transmuting" from the GGD engine and this can lead to unwanted artifacts --> a soft hit will "transmute" ( = fade out) the audio tail from a previous loud hit and this is quite no-go especially with the 'Benny Greb Signature Pack' closed hihat --> so a dynamically played fast hihat pulse (or pattern) will suffer from annoying artifacts ( = unrealistically cut sounds) - [example: a (fast) loop "R-l-r-l-R-l-r-l-R-l-r-l..." or "R-l-r-L-R-l-r-L-R-l-r-L..." (the capital letters are loud full strokes and the lowercase letters soft "ghost notes")]
So I've built a fix engine: no more suffering from cut Hihat sounds ❗️
∙ additional Variable Hihat Feature: Consistently controllable 2-closed-stages Variable Hihat for GGD e-drummers 👉 LINK
∙ Snare : 'Hit Center' articulation ➜ separated CENTER ↔ RIMSHOT ( + Side Stick) --> the range of Center Head Snare Samples is translated to the whole velocity range -> so the high velocity CENTER sounds will be played when hitting hard ( = no Rimshots on the center head)
<->
the Rimshots will be available on the snare pad's rim (also the "Side Stick" with a velocity border, if you like (as described):
∙ optional feature : Side Stick snare rim engine ➜ the 'Side Stick' articulation will be played when hitting the rim of the snare pad at lower velocities (instead of the 'Rimshot Center' articulation) ; (of course with adjustable threshold) 🙂 ;
∙ additional GGD Snare FIX feature: Snare Engine toggle 👉 LINK
∙ additional Snare FIX feature: Snare Drum Throw Off Switch 👉 LINK
All Kicks and Toms will also switch between the 'snare buzz' and 'no snare buzz' versions ❗️❗️
∙ additional Snare FIX feature for the main Snare: ➜ Switch between the Benny Greb Signature 'Beech Snare' and the Benny Greb Signature 'Brass Snare' or the other available 'Beech Snare' tunings during a song️️😊 [ 👉 LINK ]
∙ additional GGD Benny Greb Variable Snare FIX feature - for Roland PD-140DS (and similar snare pads) ➜ : Snare 'Rimshot Edge' (vs. 'Rimshot Center') integration 👉 LINK
∙ additional Snare FIX feature for the main Snare : 'Stageless Snare Positional Sensing' ❗️❗️😊 👉 LINK
∙ Cymbal Choking : you will be able to choke all GGD Benny Greb Crash Cymbals (+ the Crash Stack) by choking any of your Crash cymbal pads (even choking the hihat can achieve this if you like). Crash Chokes won't affect the Ride Cymbal sound.
The Ride pad will exclusively choke the Benny Greb Ride sound and won't affect the Crashes ;
∙ additional Cymbal Choke Feature: "Mute Tail" articulations are triggered when cymbals are choked ( --> just like SuperiorDrummer3 handles cymbal choking! ) 👉 LINK
∙ making the two existing Hihats (the 14" + the 16") available for the e-kit ➜ so you can have the 14 inch as your main hihat on the left side and the 16 inch as a second hihat (i.e.) on the right side (with right panning in that case).
Switch between 'Tight' , 'Closed' and 'Open 1 (/2)' articulations for the X-Hat during a song (by dedicated toggle pad hit)️️
The second hihat can also be additionally set up as a Variable Hihat with all existing articulations (/open-closed stages) controlled by the hihat controller pedal/hihat stand motion unit. 😊
∙ Ride 'Crash'/Edge articulation fix : cut sounds / fade out by Bow or Bell hits will be prevented ;
∙ additional Ride feature : dynamically triggered 'Bell Tip'<->'Bell Shoulder' splitting
∙ Roland CY-18DR feature : making all GGD Benny Greb Ride articulations available (addition in that case can be: 'Bell-Tip' on the BOW near the bell of the pad)
∙ additional Crash Bell feature -for 3-zone Crash Pads!- : dynamically triggered 'Bell Tip'↔'Bell Shoulder' splitting
[ ...btw, speaking of 3-zone crash cymbal pads : Turning 2-zone cymbal pads [i.e. Crash cymbal pads like Roland 'CY-14c(-T)' or 'CY-12c(-T)'] into 3❗️-zone cymbal pads 😃👉 LINK ]
∙ adding TOMS (i.e. two (!) (a second and a third one) TomToms (btw, pan them after your liking!) + adding a second (and a third) FloorTom and/or a left Floor Tom ... + adding the non-damped 16 inch Jazz Bassdrum as a kind of Gong Drum ... + adding the Jazz Toms
➜ all additional Toms + Bassdrums will also switch their versions ('buzz' vs. 'no buzz'!) along with the Snare Throw Off Switch ;
∙ Double Bass Drum sound for single Kick Pads :
play a DoubleBassDrum sound with alternating Kick sounds (the second Kick will sound slightly different in order to achieve an authentic DoubbleBass sound/feel and to avoid machinegunning) and toggle the kick drum engine (default Single-Sound vs. advanced engine Double-Sound) after your musical needs during a song (by dedicated toggle pad hit) 👍 👉 LINK ;
∙ adding more cymbals, i.e. the existing 'Crash Stack' as a the fourth Crash Cymbal ( = making the 'Crash Stack' available for the e-kit as the second left Crash Cymbal).
+ creating an additional Crash Far Left and/or a left Stack and/or a second Ride, based on pitching and audio editing ;
∙ fixing the "Sonor Vintage 16 x 14" Kick (with Towel)" -> [ issue : incoming notes do not always trigger the kick sound ; there are random trigger gaps]
∙ fixing some dodgy samples :)
If you want your custom settings on GGD kits (i.e. midi mapping and sound) and you want them to stay you can also send me your project files and I can add the mentioned features and send it back to you. 😊
-- supported DAWs : "Reaper" , "Bidule" , (partially: "Cubase Artist/Pro" , "Logic Pro X" , "AbletonLive Suite")
(+ any DAW that can host 'Bidule' as a VST(3) or AU plugin)
ENJOY ❗️😊
